American Cancer Society "Relay For Life" events celebrate survivorship and the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. Teams camp out at a local college, high school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times during the event. Because cancer never sleeps, these Relay For Life events are overnight events which run up to 24 hours in length.

The RE/MAX Tent can be a great feature at American Cancer Society Relay For Life events. The RE/MAX Tent can remain inflated for the entire 24 hours in the heart of the event area making it a focal point of the event. At night, the RE/MAX Tent can be illuminated with our 1000 watt light system, which effectively turns it into a 30 ft wide luminary.

Uses at Relay For Life events include: On Site Donation Center, Kids Camp, Security Headquarters, Refreshment Center, you name it.

The Survivors Lap

Relay For Life events begin with a Survivors Lap. Survivors are invited to circle the track together, helping to celebrate the victories we’ve achieved over cancer. During this time, caregivers are also celebrated for giving their time, love, and support to friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers who face battles with cancer.

The Luminaria Ceremony

After dark, the Luminaria Ceremony honors people who have been touched by cancer and remembers loved ones lost to the disease. All lights are turned off and candles are lit inside bags filled with sand which encircle the track. Each luminaria bears the name of a person touched by cancer and participants often walk a lap in silence.

The Fight Back Ceremony

The final ceremony is the Fight Back Ceremony. During this time, participants make personal commitments to taking up the fight against cancer. By taking action with something as simple as getting a screening test, quitting smoking or talking to elected officials about cancer, steps are taken to fight back against this terrible disease.
